English project 1st Grade: Foster the Monster
A Visit from Foster the Monster: Exploring Culture through English Projects
This year, the first-grade students at our school embarked on an extraordinary adventure in their English classes. We welcomed a special visitor from another planet: Foster the Monster. Foster’s mission was to learn about our culture, and in turn, he helped our students deepen their understanding of English vocabulary through engaging and creative activities.
Over the course of several weeks, Foster's visits became the highlight of our English lessons. Each week, he introduced a new topic that allowed our students to explore different aspects of our culture. The topics included Family, Food, Actions, Animals, School Materials, and Body Parts. These themes were not only fun and educational but also offered a diverse range of learning experiences.
Each week, Foster's visit included unique proposals such as making crafts related to the topic, listening to stories, or working on vocabulary through cooperative learning corners. These activities were designed to make learning enjoyable and interactive, ensuring that students were fully engaged and motivated.
To culminate Foster’s journey and our project, the three first-grade classes came together to create a free circulation environment. This event allowed students to review and practice the vocabulary they had learned in a collaborative setting. Stations were set up around the classroom, each dedicated to a different topic. Students moved freely between stations, engaging in various activities that reinforced their learning and allowed them to work together.
This project not only helped Foster learn about our culture but also provided our students with a dynamic and immersive way to enhance their English skills. Through creativity, cooperation, and hands-on activities, our students discovered the joy of learning a new language while teaching an alien friend about life on Earth. We look forward to more exciting projects in the future that make learning English an adventure for all!
